Disney World might be associated with families, but it's also one of the most romantic destinations in the world if you know how to plan it. Couples celebrating milestone anniversaries get experiences they cannot get anywhere else. Here's how to plan a Disney anniversary trip that will be remembered for decades.
The Right Resort for an Anniversary
Best for first-time Disney couples: Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
Disney's flagship resort. Victorian theming, monorail access to Magic Kingdom, and the closest proximity to fireworks viewing. Pricier ($600 to $1,200/night) but the Disney luxury anniversary experience.
Best for couples who love unique experiences: Animal Kingdom Lodge
Wake up to giraffes and zebras outside your savanna-view room. Unlike anything else in the world. Around $600 to $900/night for savanna view rooms.
Best for value-conscious anniversary couples: Yacht Club Resort
Stunning Crescent Lake views, walking distance to EPCOT, and Stormalong Bay (the best pool at Disney). $500 to $750/night.
Best for first-night-of-marriage feels: Polynesian Village
Tiki torches at sunset, the beach overlooking Seven Seas Lagoon, monorail to Magic Kingdom. Romantic and laid-back simultaneously.
Anniversary Dining Worth Booking
Victoria & Albert's (Grand Floridian)
Disney's only AAA Five Diamond restaurant. A 7-course tasting menu experience. Reserve 6 months in advance. Expect $200+ per person, plus wine pairings. Worth every dollar for milestone anniversaries.
California Grill (Contemporary Resort)
Modern American cuisine on the 15th floor of the Contemporary. The signature anniversary experience: dinner timed so you're at your table when Magic Kingdom fireworks begin. The restaurant cuts the music and pipes in the fireworks soundtrack while you watch through the floor-to-ceiling windows. Book this 60 days in advance.
Topolino's Terrace (Riviera Resort)
Rooftop Italian dining. Stunning sunset views, exceptional food, and a more intimate setting than California Grill.
Yachtsman Steakhouse (Yacht Club)
Disney's best steakhouse. Quiet, sophisticated, lovely for anniversary dinner.
Couples-Only Anniversary Experiences
Magic Kingdom Fireworks Dessert Party
A premium experience where you have desserts and drinks in a reserved area, then watch the fireworks from a private viewing location. $99 to $149 per person. Perfect anniversary touch.
EPCOT World Showcase by Boat
Friendship boats run across the lagoon at EPCOT. A sunset boat ride across the World Showcase Lagoon (with food and drinks in hand) is one of the most romantic Disney experiences. Free if you have park tickets.
Walt Disney World's "Anniversary Buttons"
Request "We're Celebrating Our Anniversary" buttons at any guest services. Free, and they trigger small magical moments throughout your day, congratulations from cast members, surprise upgrades, and sometimes special touches at dining experiences.
Private Fireworks Cruise
For couples celebrating milestone anniversaries (10th, 25th, etc.), Disney offers private pontoon boat cruises during Magic Kingdom fireworks. Around $350 to $500 for up to 10 people. Your captain provides drinks and snacks. Once-in-a-lifetime experience.
