Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party (MVMCP) is the holiday counterpart to Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. From early November through late December, Magic Kingdom hosts after-hours Christmas-themed parties featuring snow on Main Street, free cookies and hot chocolate, exclusive entertainment, and characters in their holiday costumes. For families who love Christmas, this is one of the absolute best Disney World experiences available.
When It Runs
MVMCP typically runs on select nights from early November through December 22 or 23. Specific 2026 dates haven't been announced yet but Disney usually confirms in early summer. The party runs from 7 PM to midnight, with ticket holders entering as early as 4 PM.
The Magic of MVMCP
Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party is the only time of year that Magic Kingdom truly becomes a winter wonderland. The signature experiences:
Snow on Main Street, U.S.A.
Several times throughout the night, "snow" (soap-based bubbles, but it looks and feels like falling snow) descends on Main Street. The combination of the Christmas-decorated street, holiday music, and falling snow is genuinely one of the most magical experiences at any Disney park.
Free Cookies and Hot Chocolate
Throughout the night, Disney sets up cookie and hot chocolate stations throughout the park. Free, unlimited, and surprisingly excellent quality.
Mickey's Once Upon a Christmastime Parade
The signature MVMCP parade. Features Santa Claus, the Christmas Carolers, toy soldiers, gingerbread men, and Disney characters in their holiday costumes. Two showings per night.
A Frozen Holiday Wish
Cinderella Castle lighting ceremony. Elsa transforms the castle into a glittering ice palace. Truly stunning.
Minnie's Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks
A party-exclusive fireworks show with holiday music and projections on Cinderella Castle.
Ticket Pricing
- Adults: $129 to $219 depending on the night (Saturdays cost most)
- Children (ages 3 to 9): Slightly less
- Christmas Eve (December 23 or 24, depending on year) is the most expensive and sells out first
- Early-November parties are cheaper and less crowded
Special Characters at MVMCP
Disney brings out characters that aren't usually available, all in their holiday outfits:
- Santa Claus (yes, the actual Santa Claus, only available at MVMCP)
- Captain Hook, Mr. Smee in winter wear
- The Seven Dwarfs in holiday costumes
- Lots of Frozen-themed character experiences
- Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Pluto, Goofy in matching holiday outfits
The Best Holiday Party Strategy
Arrive at 4 PM, eat dinner outside the party
Your party ticket gets you in at 4 PM, but the party doesn't really start until 7 PM. Use 4 to 6 PM to ride a few rides on regular Magic Kingdom hours. Then eat dinner OUTSIDE the park (most resorts have great options) so you're not wasting party time on dining.
Be on Main Street at 7 PM
The official Christmas Castle Lighting happens around the start of the party. Position yourself in the hub between Main Street and Cinderella Castle. This is also when the snow first falls on Main Street.
Watch the parade from the right spot
Watch the Once Upon a Christmastime Parade from Frontierland during the second showing. The crowds are smaller at the second showing, and the parade is genuinely one of the best Disney parades ever produced.
Don't skip the fireworks
Even though you'll have seen Magic Kingdom fireworks before, the holiday fireworks are different and beautiful. Watch from the hub or Main Street.
End the night with snow on Main Street
The last snow falling on Main Street is usually around 11:30 PM, just before the party ends. Standing on Main Street, U.S.A., snow gently falling, holiday music playing, Cinderella Castle illuminated. It's worth staying for.
What to Wear
The Christmas party is famously cozy and festive:
- Holiday sweaters or matching family Christmas outfits are very common
- Mickey ears with holiday themes (sequins, fur, ornament-themed)
- Costumes are NOT permitted at MVMCP (unlike the Halloween party)
- Florida nights in December can be 50 to 65 degrees, dress in layers
The Holiday Snacks
Disney releases special party-exclusive treats:
- Mickey-shaped gingerbread cookies
- Peppermint specialty drinks
- Hot chocolate variations (peppermint, Mexican spiced, white chocolate)
- Holiday-themed ice cream and dessert options
Is the Christmas Party Worth It?
For families who love Christmas, this might be the most magical Disney World event of the year. The combination of low crowds (Disney caps party tickets), exclusive entertainment, free food, and the holiday atmosphere create a genuinely special experience that you simply can't get on regular park days. For families visiting in November or December, adding one MVMCP night is something they'll talk about for years.
